Clinton's Hometown Heroes Project

The Clinton Hometown Heroes project was initiated in July of 2022, and has primarily been a collaboration of Fairfield Veterans of Foreign Wars, Buddy Frost, and Randy and Jodi Liberty, with many others assisting along the way.

The purpose of this project is to honor and remember the Veterans from our community that have served during our nation’s wars.

We began by posting flyers and spreading by word of mouth our intentions. Over a short period of time, family members began to email, call and visit Buddy with information of wartime service of their family members.

We began with our World War II Veterans and slowly began to add Korean War Veterans and have now begun to add Vietnam Veterans. Each banner requires Name, Rank, Military Branch, War and a wartime photo is preferred. Once this information is obtained, it is sent to the printers, a proof developed and we approve the proof. A week later the banner is attached on a pole in town.

As we can, we locate banners of Veteran loved ones near the local landmarks that were meaningful to them. For instance, the banners honoring Freddie Albert, Dick Goodwin and Blynn Galusha are all located in front or next to the stores that they operated for many years.

The Fairfield VFW has graciously funded this project, totaling approximately $10,000 ($68.00 per banner and $25.00 per bracket).

Buddy Frost serves as the detective historian, researching and locating the stories of the heroic Veterans of the Town of Clinton.
