Charles Willett

Charles Willett was in World War I but is honored as a Clinton Hometown Hero because he is the “Willett” in the American Legion name “Willett-McKenney Post 186.” 

Charles enlisted on June 20, 1916 in National Guard and then entered the Army on April 13, 917. He served with Company H 2nd Maine Infantry. He was promoted to Corporal. 

Charles Willett was a World War I casualty. He died on September 13, 1918 and was awarded a Purple Heart. He is buried at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, in Romagne, France.
