Edward Rand

Edward was born in Vassalboro on April 21, 1920, the son of George E. and Veronica P. Rand. At an early age Edward and his family moved to Clinton where he resided, along with his wife, until his retirement in 1979.

Edward served honorably in the Army as staff sergeant with the 475th Fighter Group during the second World War from 1941 to 1945. He was stationed both in the United States and in the Pacific Theatre, including the Philippines. After his military service concluded, Edward returned home and began a career with the United States Postal Service where he served as postmaster for the town of Clinton for 25 years.

He married Phyllis Keegan and they were parents to Veronica Rand Wilkinson and Susan Rand Clark.

Edward's greatest joys were spending time with his family, reading books on military history and politics, Boston Bruins Hockey, and dining out at many area restaurants. He also enjoyed frequent visits from the Waterville Elks Veteran's Committee.

Edward passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Dec. 15, 2010, at age 90.
