Kenneth Irving
Kenneth Joseph Irving, Sr., Kenneth was born on August 10, 1930 in Plainfield, Vermont, the son of Joseph and Minnie (Dodge) Irving. His family later moved to Freedom, Maine where he attended school, and graduated from the South Freedom School in 1947.
Kenneth entered the United States Marine Corps in 1948, serving in the Korean War. He was honorable Discharged in 1951. Kenneth married Myrtle Richardson and together they had four children: Shirley, Kenneth Jr., Merlin and Ronnie.
Upon leaving the military he went to work for Cianchette Brothers at Limestone Air Force Base for a year and half. He was a self-employed logger, and then worked for Mickey Marden driving truck for several years.
Later, Ken started his own trucking business, hauling lime and fertilizer to farms throughout Maine and New Hampshire for over 25 years. He then plowed snow for the Town of Benton, Maine for three years; and he sanded and plowed for the Town of Clinton, Maine for several years before retiring in 1990.
Kenneth served as a selectman for the Town of Clinton, was a member of the Clinton and Winslow American Legions, attended Clinton Baptist Church, and was a member of the Burnham Baptist Church.
In 2014 at the age of 83, Kenneth died at his home surrounded by his loving family.
