Ira "Bo" Witham, Jr.
Captain Ira A. Witham Jr., better known as Bo, left University of Maine Farmington to fight in World War II on October 15, 1942.
While serving in the Army, Witham rose to the rank of Major in the infantry. While stationed in Texas he met and married an Army nurse, Alice (Vandy) Vandercratts.
Following the war, Bo owned and ran a grocery store in Clinton, then became a teacher and principal until his death in May of 1962.
Bo and Alice had three children: twin boys Butch and Bo, and a daughter, Cindy Witham Forbes.
Ira was inducted in the UMF Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.
