Gerard Tardiff
Corporal Gerard Tardiff was born on March 14, 1922 to Ferd and Anna Tardiff.
Gerard served in the Marines from November 15, 1942 until his death on May 17, 1945. He served as a Corporal, Company I, 29th Marines, 6th Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. At age 23, he was killed in action on Okinawa and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated to the Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville, ME.
Gerald had four brothers: Richard Tardiff, Dr. Donald Tardiff, Norman Tardiff and Lewis Tardiff, and he also had three sisters: Alfreda, Sister Doris and Sister Anne.
